🎵 Monroe Street Mystery Solved
The Flat Rock Gazette has learned the identity of the new tenant at the Monroe Street storefront that quietly changed hands earlier this spring.
Tony DeLucca, a Flat Rock native recently returned to town, has signed a lease on the space adjacent to Krensky’s Antiques and plans to open B-Sharp Vintage Records at the location. The shop will carry new and used vinyl, music memorabilia, and related items.
DeLucca, when reached for comment, was characteristically brief.
“This wasn’t planned,” he said. “It just sort of happened.”
An opening date has not yet been announced. Find out what else the future shop owner had to say 👉 [here.]
🚔 Alexandria Man Charged in Connection with Local Band
Carl Brennan, 47, of Alexandria, was arrested this week on fraud charges in connection with gambling markers allegedly taken out in the name of a former client. Brennan, who managed Flat Rock area cover band Backroad Saints until earlier this year, is accused of using the client’s identity to secure credit at an undisclosed gaming facility. The County Attorney’s office confirmed the arrest but declined further comment. Brennan is expected to appear for arraignment later this month.
📋 Community Board: Seeking Referrals
A note posted to the community board at the Bear Claw Bakery and Coffee House this week from local resident Ethel Truesdale asks if anyone can recommend a reputable estate planning attorney. Mrs. Truesdale, who declined to elaborate beyond “you know what happened,” says she finds herself in need of new legal representation and would prefer a referral from someone she trusts. Notes can be left at the bakery counter, attention Ethel.
👀 Seen Around Town
There have been some quiet meetings taking place at the Bear Claw Bakery lately. Co-owner Brenda Welch has been sitting down with some interesting company. We don’t know exactly what’s being discussed, but we’re curious.

❄️ A Word About Your Snow Shovel
With temperatures climbing and optimism running high, the Gazette would like to remind residents that spring in Minnesota is a negotiation, not a guarantee. Before you move that snow shovel to the back of the garage or pull the ice scraper from your vehicle, we would ask you to reflect on May 8th, 2019, when 10.6 inches of snow fell on the Duluth area.
We’re just saying.
✏️ Editor’s Note
May is here. So, probably, is everything that comes with it.
